Westport Lions Roar
By Lion Bob Reddick
On March 28, thirty Lions from Elgin and Westport were entertained by the Westport Area Senior Association (WASA) with a fashion show like no other. Shirley Murphy provided the commentary for ten models who strutted their creative fashions before the appreciative Lions.
Each model’s outfit was a play on words. For example, a “turtleneck sweater” had a crocheted turtle pinned to her top, her “checked” pants had cheques glued on them, “fishnet” stockings had attached fish, and a “pill box” hat was made from a box and pill bottles. Other fashionable items were a 10-carrot necklace, water bottle “hot pants” and a “smoking jacket” that any smoker would love. The garment that got the most laughs was Betty McInnis’s “double-breasted” jacket.
During the meeting, the Elgin Lions announced their club’s 75th Charter Anniversary celebration will take place on May 4, and their Quiz Night will begin on April 26.
Chocolate Bunnies are Hopping Around Westport
The Westport Lions have completely sold out of their chocolate Easter bunnies within 24 hours. Due to the remarkable success of this first-time fundraiser, the Westport Lions will be taking pre-orders in January for the 2025 Easter season.
The Westport Club has decided to donate all proceeds from the sale of the Easter bunnies to childhood cancer, one of the five Lion pillars of service. The Westport Lions would like to express their gratitude to the community for their support.
