Westport Lions Roar
By Lion Bill Garland
The 2024 Westport Lions Reuse and Recycle season is off to a great start. The community continues to respond to our program by donating furniture, appliances, decorator items, tools and sporting equipment. Centre co-managers Jeannette Harper and Bruce Maynard are pleased with the constant flow of goods coming and going from the Centre.
The Lions R & R Centre has become a fixture in our community as it provides a multitude of benefits:
- Significantly reduces the number of discarded items going to landfill.
- Provides youth, seniors, cottagers and homeowners with a low-cost source of home furnishings, decorator items, tools, sports and exercise equipment.
- Provides residents with a fast, zero cost and easy way to dispose of items which are no longer needed.
- Generates revenues that enables the Westport Lions to expand our support to the community.
Co-managers Jeannette and Bruce ask the community to please refrain from dropping items off at the Centre when it is closed. We can only accept items that will be reused by others. Items that are not suitable or of high enough quality for use by others, can not be accepted. Many items that have been dropped off when the Centre is closed have been of unacceptable quality and would not be reuseable by others. The Lions Club now has the burden of taking these unapproved items to landfill.
To pre-approve the acceptance of your donations please email pictures of your items to our managers:
