Westport Lions Roar
By Lion Kim Kelly
Every time you buy a Lion’s Spring Draw ticket, a Lions $10,000 Draw ticket, a Westport Lions Lottery Calendar or you buy something from the Lions R&R Centre, the proceeds of your purchase are returned to your community through local schools, sports clubs, arts groups, the food bank, the library, local veterans, seniors, hospitals in our region, and so much more.
For over 75 years, the Lions Club of Westport has been dedicated to supporting our local community in various ways, including financial support for local accredited charitable and not for profit organizations
that fall within our mandate of supporting:
• Youth mental and physical development;
• Senior’s mental and physical well-being;
• Relief of pain, suffering and financial hardship due to illness or disaster, and;
• Purposes Beneficial to the Community.
In addition, Lions Club activities are also guided by our 5 Pillars: Vision, Diabetes, Hunger, Environment and Childhood Cancer.
We allocate funds to local organizations on a semi-annual basis.
| The deadline to apply for Fall Disbursements is just around the corner on October 1st and you can find the Application on the Westport Lions Club’s website www.westportlions.ca |
We assess and rank requests based on the above listed criteria. In addition to the above factors, every attempt is made to stretch our limited budget as far as possible, so the more members of our community an organization is able to support, the better.
If you are part of a group, team, school, etc. that could benefit from funds that have been raised in the community, to support the community, please take a few minutes by October 1st, to fill out the funding request application.
If you would like to make a donation to support the work of the Westport Lions Club, contact us at westportontariolions@gmail.com or call 613-273-5789. We accept donations of cash, cheque and by etransfer. Donations directed toward the Lions Mobility Service are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
