Westport Lions Roar
By Lion Kim Kelly
The Westport Lions Club had a roar of a time on Halloween where, under the leadership of Lion Gary Warriner, tricks & treats were handed out to ghosts and goblins, pirates and princesses.
The Lions have always loved a good Spooktacular Halloween. From the days of old when the Lions held costume parades in the Westport Arena and St Ed’s gym to today where we’ve hit the streets to hand out candy at the corner of Church & Spring.
Where do all those treats come from? Lion Kris Henderson Klatt approached a number of local and neighbouring businesses for donations, and boy did they come through!
Our thanks to the following businesses from Perth and Kingston who generously donated, in total, 1,400 chocolate bars, bags of chips and candy for our kids:
– No Frills at Division St, Kingston
– Metro in Perth
– Barnabe’s Independent in Perth
– Giant Tiger in Perth
We hope the kids enjoyed their evening and we’re looking forward to seeing next year’s lions and tigers and bears, Oh my!

Last week, the prizes for the Christmas Draw were incorrectly stated. The first prize is a 55” Smart Colour TV. The second prize is one night at The Bunkie Air B & B including dinner for two at Scheuermann Vineyard and Winery. Both locations are easy walking distance from each other. The third and fourth prizes are freezer meat packages from Westport Fine Meats.
