It was an honour this year for myself and Jan Gagnon to chair the Westport Lions Santa Claus parade. As I walked around the parking lot, it was great to talk to all the participants and to see the 37 floats. I tried to thank everyone that day. If I missed you, I’m sorry, but the Lions are thankful for your participation. Without you, there would not be a Westport Lions Santa Claus Parade. I would also like to thank all the businesses in Westport and the surrounding area for their generous donations. Thank you to all the Lions members and our volunteers who helped to put this event on. A special thanks to Ragu Sharma and Circle K for donating 200 hot dogs and some fresh curd and to the Derbyshire family for allowing the club to use the parking lot.
The winners of this year’s floats, as picked by our judges, Dorothy Maynard, President of the Westport Lions Club, David Lewis, Westport Home Hardware, and Seamus Cowen, The Cove Country Inn.
The float winners are:
Most Creative- Scheuermann Vineyard & Winery
Most Festive -Lyons Goodfellow Furniture
Most Community Oriented – Madden Tree Service
Also, thanks to Westport Fine Meats for handing out hot chocolate at their location on Church Street.
