Every time you buy a Lions’ Spring $1,500 Draw ticket, a $10,000 Elimination Draw ticket, a Westport Lions Cash Calendar, or make a purchase at the Reuse and Recycle Centre, the monetary gains are returned to your community to support local schools, sports clubs, arts groups, the food bank, the library, local veterans, and seniors.

For 79 years, the Westport Lions Club has been dedicated to supporting our local community in various ways, including financial support for local not-for-profit organizations that fall within our mandate, which are:

  • Youth mental and physical development with an emphasis on one of five Lions’ Pillars: Vision, Diabetes, Hunger, Environment, or Childhood Cancer.
  • Seniors’ mental and physical well-being with an emphasis on one of the five Lions’ Pillars.
  • Relief of pain, suffering, and financial hardship due to illness or disaster.
  • Purposes beneficial to the community.

To maximize the value of our donation dollars, the club developed a matrix to rank and assess requests based on the above criteria.  Priority is given to causes that support multiple individuals, rather than a single recipient, and how the donation will be beneficial to the community.

If your group or organization could benefit from Lions’ funding, please complete a request form by October 1, 2025.

All requests must be submitted in writing. Completing the form ensures the Westport Lions make fair, non-biased decisions that are consistent with the Lions Club mandate and AGCO guidelines.

Last year, the Westport Lions donated $14,600 in the spring and $19,078 in the fall, bringing the total disbursements for 2024 to $33,678. This was made possible by the outstanding support of the community and the hard work of volunteers and club members.
