The Westport Lions were delighted to host local seniors to four lunches on the third Thursday in June, July, August, and September. A combined total of 241 seniors attended, with an additional 12 lunches delivered to seniors who were unable to attend.
The Westport Lions provided the main course and the Senior Support Services, based in Brockville, supplied dessert and drinks. Although the meal is free for the seniors, many of them made a donation to the Lions Medical Mobility Van Service. The club is thankful for their generosity.
The luncheons are the club’s way of expressing deep appreciation for the seniors’ ongoing support and offering them an opportunity to socialize.
A new feature this year was the use of a golf cart donated by Charlotte Thompson. Julian Bahmann and Harry Beckett gave much appreciated rides up the hill to the clubhouse. Luncheon organizer, Lion Wayne Bent, hopes to expand the program next year.
The 2026 Lions Cash Calendars are now available for sale for the same price as previous years, $20 each or six for $100. Contact a Lion member immediately if you wish to purchase a calendar. Don’t be disappointed; every year calendars sell out quickly.
