The angel tree.
Westport Lions Roar
By Lion Bill Garland
The early season snowfall and cooler temperatures have started many of us thinking about Christmas. The Westport Lions have been planning for Christmas with the Santa Claus Parade committee booking bands, floats, police security and sound systems for Santa’s arrival on November 22nd. Two Lions areas of focus are support for seniors and youth. The annual Westport Lions Christmas Toy Drive is underway and is designed to make sure none of our community’s youth is forgotten at this festive time of year.
Lion volunteer Jan Gagnon has set up our Angel Tree near the entrance to Kudrinko’s Grocery Store on Main Street in Westport. Families that are financially unable to supply the Christmas gifts that their children are hoping for can reach out to the Lions Club with the ages and sex of their children and their wish list. Angels are hung on the Angel Tree with the suggested cost range for a gift from the wish list of a specific child and a number to track the gift to the child. Generous members of our community then purchase gifts that will be appropriate and well received by the child represented by the angel.
As you shop at Kudrinko’s, please stop at the Angel Tree which is about 3 steps inside the front door on your right. Your support for the Lions Christmas Toy Drive will help a young member of our community to feel seen, valued and remembered this Christmas season.
Please let families in need know about this important support program. Families need to register with their children’s information and wish lists by Saturday December 6th by contacting Jan Gagnon on Facebook or by email jan.gagnon411@gmail.com
Please let your family and friends know about the Angel Tree in Kudrinko’s. Community support for the Lions Christmas Toy Drive is the life blood for its success. Donors choose one gift from the wish list and can drop them off unwrapped at either Kudrinko’s or Westport Flooring during regular business hours. Families can pick up their gifts at the Westport Lions Hall or Westport Flooring before December 21st.
Thanks to Kudrinko’s and Westport Flooring for their support for the Toy Drive. Thanks to Jan Gagnon for her leadership and thanks to our community for your continued support. Have a Happy and Merry Christmas!
