On April 8, the Westport Lions will induct four new members into our club. In the next couple of weeks, I will introduce them to our community.
Lori Crawford already has a good knowledge of Lion activities and what it means to serve. She volunteered at the Lions’ Reuse and Recycle Centre last year and has decided to take the next step by becoming a member. Lori is also a member of the Sharbot Lake Legion.
Growing up, Lori described herself as an “army brat” and estimates she lived in 40 different homes in her life, including three years in Soest, Germany. She is hopeful that re-locating is behind her, and she will be a long-time resident of Westport.
In addition to volunteering at R.& R. Centre, she hopes to assist with the Santa Claus parade and Easter Bunny sales. She jokes that it is a toss-up who is the best customer for the chocolate bunnies, her husband, Roley or herself. Lori says, “We both have our own stash.”
Lori has had many jobs, but mainly she worked for the Department of National Defence and spent 18 years working at Maltby Centre until she retired. The Maltby Centre provides autism and mental health services for young people in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington.
Lori has a wide variety of interests, ranging from cross-stitching and knitting to spending time with her five grandchildren. She also loves to fish and hunt deer, turkeys and ducks.
The club hopes that Lori enjoys many years serving the community with the Westport Lions Club.
