A group of ladies got a $250 boost from the Westport Lions Club this week to help them with their ongoing effort to supply quilts to those facing life-threatening situations in hospital.
For several years now, the Rideau Sewing Club has been producing quilts for palliative and cancer patients at the Perth and Smiths Falls hospital and, recently, pillow cases for patients at the Childrens Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
“The key is, the whole group does something. It’s all team work,” said Judy Pattinson.
The Westport Lions Club donation – their bingo money at work says Lion Bob Weir – is the second they have made to the group. The money goes toward materials.
They hope to have another 12 quilts ready for Christmas.
“The cost of cotton is atrocious,” Pattinson said. “The cost of flannel is just as exorbitant.”
They do accept donations of material.
Anyone who wants to make a cash or material donation to the group can call Pattinson at 613-273-3546.
