Two recent fundraising events for the Westport Lions Club were big successes. President Wayne Bent thanked members Chris Norman, Harry Beckett, Don Baker for working with him at the Heritage Day canteen and made a special note of praise for Ian Mulville and Marty Hawkins who organized and worked at the grill all day. Chairperson Rick Warriner reported that the annual fish fry was very profitable and thanked all members who helped.

Head of the Property Committee Don Baker reported that all paperwork concerning rentals and events at the clubhouse is completed which should help in applying for future grants. Lion Don is committed to cleaning the beach every day. This is a big job and Don should be commended for his dedication. Two grass-cutting teams were formed to assist in our efforts to keep the cost of maintaining our property to a minimum. Team 1 consists of Harry Beckett, Bob Reddick & Craig Jackson and Team 2 consists of Jim McGlade, Chris Norman & Wayne Bent. Teams will alternate weekly.

Dale Lyons is stepping down from being chairperson of the Santa Claus Parade but is willing to help any person taking over this position. A big thank you goes out to Dale for his excellent work in organizing this long-standing tradition for so many years.

Jim Scala reported that the pictures for the upcoming 2018 Lions’ calendar have been selected. He will send an invoice to past advertisers and a quote to potential advertisers. We do have room for new advertisers so if you wish to advertise in the 2018 calendar please contact Jim Scala at 613-273-9253 or email the club at westportontariolions@gmail.com.
