Jim McGlade Granted Life Membership by Lions International

Perth Lions Ed Firlotte and Bill Dixon, long-time associates and friends of Jim’s in Lionism, helped bestow the Life Membership honour to Jim.

The International Association of Lions Clubs and their Board of Directors has approved the Westport Lions application to grant Life Membership to Westport Lion Jim McGlade. Life Membership is the highest membership level within Lions International. Jim has been a Westport Lion for over 45 years. During this time he has held every executive position within the club. As Sight Chair, Jim and his Lions team are well known to students of our local schools. They annually conduct sight screening of students to ensure eye deficiencies in our youth are detected and attended to. Many will remember Jim’s leadership in the Westport Lions Club recent acquisition of E Glasses for local resident Lisa Welch. This emerging technology brought sight to Lisa for the first time in her life.

A large group of Lions members assembled at the Lions Hall last Wednesday evening to recognize Jim. Perth Lions Ed Firlotte and Bill Dixon, long-time associates and friends of Jim’s in Lionism, along with Westport Lions President Wayne Bent helped bestow the Life Membership honour to Jim on behalf of Chancellor Bob Corlew, Lions International President. Ten members of the Seeley’s Bay Lions Club also attended to honour Jim. The Westport Lions Club is very proud of this hour bestowed upon Lion Jim!
