The Westport Lions Club welcomed 4 new members to the club on Wednesday night. Lion Jim McGlade presided over the Induction Ceremony which offered the new members insight into the plight of daily living for blind people. One focus of Lions International is support for the blind. The new pledges were lead into the meeting room by their sponsors wearing blindfolds, spending half of the induction ceremony in the dark. Lion Jim described some life challenges blind people face, which the pledges were now experiencing. Lion Jim, Westport Lions Sight Chairman, explained some club activities that benefit the sight impaired. New members Chris Norman, Robert Merkley, George Jones and Rene Reynen were inducted into the club and welcomed by our local membership as well as Lions members from Seeley’s Bay and Perth.
