This summer the Westport Lions club has organized two sporting events for people of all ages.

On Saturday, July 20th the Westport Lions will host their seventh annual beach volleyball tournament. There will be a canteen, music, and plenty of fun prizes given out to all participants. There will be two divisions, one will be competitive (designed for players that have played at least high school varsity volleyball) and a non-competitive division (for people who are happy just to get the ball over the net). Both divisions will play co-ed 4 v 4.  We have two courts so each team is guaranteed to play multiple games. To encourage a fun, non-competitive atmosphere, each team must have at least 1 male and 1 female on the court at all times.

The entrance fee of $120 and registration form must be submitted before noon on July 16th. The first ten teams to submit their entry fee and email the application form to westportontariolions@gmail.com are in the tournament. Teams that email their registration form to the Lions Club but do not submit the entry fee will be placed on a waiting list. We will accept teams on a first come basis, so it important to get your registration fee and form in a.s.a.p. You can send a cheque to Westport Lions Club, Box 428, Westport, ON K0G 1X0 or send an e-transfer to westportontariolions@gmail.com. The rain date will be Sunday, July 21th. If you have any questions, please call or text Lion Bob Reddick at 613-583-2062, or email him at westportontariolions@gmail.com. All information pertaining to the tournament is posted on our website, westportlions.ca, or our Westport Lions Facebook page.

Lion René Reynen organized a very successful First Annual Invitational Westport Lions Classic Golf Tournament.   Two teams were tied at the end of the tournament so they played extra holes to determine the winner.   Team Hawkins made up of Martin F. Hawkins, Martin M. Hawkins, and James R. Hawkins prevailed when their teammate Denis Doyle landed a chip shot on the green resulting in a victory.   The second placed team comprised of new Lion member Larry Arsenault, Glen Garland and Gord Moore.   All 28 players received a prize, had lots of laughs, and enjoyed great golf and a meal at Evergreen Golf Course.
