Canada’s 155 birthday is shaping up to be a fun-filled event. Canada Day celebrations at the Lions’ Beach will start at noon and run until 4:00 p.m. The festivities will then move to the Westport Legion from six until 10:00 p.m.
Events include bike decorating and a parade, helicopter rides, a barbeque, live music, and fireworks at the Legion.
“It will be a good day for the kids,” says Lion coordinator Joanne O’Neill.
Elvis Tribute Artist, Dan Stoness, will entertain along with All-Star Karaoke and disc jockey Tom Gard. There will be outdoor games, Canadian flags, plastic pails, and shovels for the children. A face painter will apply her artistic talents to help make the day fun and festive. Free popcorn, freezies, and hotdogs will be provided.
Bus service will provide continuous transportation between the arena, St. Edwards school, Scotties Chips across from Rideau Vista school and the Lions Beach.
Come to the Westport Lions Beach and the Westport Legion to celebrate the birthday of one of the best countries in the world.
Starting July 1, the Lions Reuse and Recycle Centre will be open only on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The R. & R. Centre will be closed on Thursday, June 30. The traffic and volume of sales on Thursdays were not sufficient to justify the number of additional volunteer hours required. Thank you for your support of the Reuse and Recycle Centre.
