The Westport Lions will host its eighth annual Rock the Beach Volleyball Tournament at the Lions Beach on Saturday, July 16. This year the club is combining Westfest with the Beach Volleyball tournament with a canteen, music by Foley Mountain Playboys, and plenty of fun prizes awarded to all volleyball participants.
The entrance fee of $120 and the registration form must be submitted byJuly 12th. The first ten teams to submit their entry fee and email the application form to breddick@rideau.net or westportontariolions@gmail.com are in the tournament.
The club will accept teams on a first-come basis, so it is important to get your registration fee and form in a.s.a.p. You can send a cheque to Westport Lions Club, Box 428, Westport, ON K0G 1X0, or send an e-transfer to breddick@rideau.net. The rain date will be Sunday, July 17. If you have any questions, please call or text Lion Bob Reddick at 613-583-2062 or by email. All information about the tournament is posted on our website, westportlions.ca, or our Westport Lions Facebook page.
The schedule will be determined once the club knows the number of teams in each division. The tournament can accommodate ten teams. There will be two divisions, one will be competitive (for players that have played at least high school varsity volleyball) and a non-competitive division (for people who are happy just to get the ball over the net). Both divisions will play co-ed four versus four. We have two courts, so each team is guaranteed to play multiple games. To encourage a fun, non-competitive atmosphere, each team must have at least one male and one female on the court. Please bring your family to cheer you on.
All you do to register is have your team captain submit the entry fee ($120) and complete the registration form below.

Also, on Saturday, July 16, the Westport Lions Club will host Westfest to show the community our appreciation for its support. The event is sponsored by Aarde Construction, owned, and operated by Josh Doornekamp. Aarde which means “earth” in Dutch, is a general and excavation contractor serving the Kingston, Westport, and Rideau Lakes area. Aarde specializes in septic systems, foundations, grading and excavating.
This event is free, and for your listening pleasure, Tom Savage and The Foley Mountain Playboys will provide outstanding music from noon until 5:00 p.m. Non-alcoholic beverages and food will be available for purchase.
Come early, bring a lawn chair, enjoy great swimming, and witness tremendous volleyball while listening to first-rate live music. Hope to see you at the beach.
