The Westport Lions Club has decided to take advantage of the end of the penny to help graduate a Lions Guide Dog. Bill Dixon of the Perth Lions Club, whose daughter benefits from one of these highly-trained special needs dogs, spearheaded the drive and the Westport club decided to help him out by collecting pennies.
Pennies for Puppies will go toward the $20,000 cost of raising and training one of these dogs that are given to individuals free from the Lions Guide Dog School in Oakville, Ontario. The school relies strictly on donations for these expenses.
Collection boxes have been placed at Murphy’s Sport Shop and Mac’s in Westport. Should anyone wish to donate pennies to this project you can drop them off at either location or give them to any Westport Lions member.
