Try something new this winter and help make our community a fun place to live. It could be the start of something big. The Westport Lions Club is organizing the first Lions’ Pond Hockey Tournament on Westport Sand Lake in front of the Lions’ clubhouse on February 15th. Since the work involved in preparing the ice for such a tournament is enormous, the Lion members are requesting a financial commitment with teams’ registrations so we will know how to proceed.
The absolute last day to register is January 12th. The cost of entering this 4 on 4 tournament is $120.00. We suggest each team carries 6 players so they have a couple of substitutes. No goalies are allowed and raising the puck will result in lost of possession. If Mother Nature does not co-operate then a full refund will be given. Each team is guaranteed 3, thirty minutes straight time games. There will be 4 divisions: 3 men’s or mixed divisions consisting of the age categories of 19-34, 35-50 & 50+, and one women’s division 19+ years old.
