February 28, 2014 – – The Westport Lions Club are roaring into the month of March offering toe tapping fun at the club’s beach house on Sand Lake. “Every Friday night in March from 7:00 – 9:30 pm we invite musicians and music lovers of all ages, to join us for some good ole fashioned fun at the Sand Lake club house,” says event organizer and newly minted Lion, John Pringle.
Hosted by George Reynolds of Chane Audio in Westport, the open mic nights are part of a Lions Club outreach initiative that also saw a successful pond hockey tournament staged on Sand Lake last month. “Musicians, vocalists, spectators, everyone, is encouraged to come out on Friday night’s and enjoy yourself. It’s free and refreshments are available,” says Pringle.
The Westport Lions Club was formed in the spring of 1946 when a number of spirited citizens, realizing the need for a service club, organized the club. The club provides tremendous service to the community and is especially noted for the mobility van that assists people getting to hospitals, clinics and doctor’s offices.
