One hundred and seventy nine Lions and Lionesses from around the area gathered at the Westport Lions Den for the annual fund raising BBQ and ate half a cow. Unlike African lions we didn’t have to chase it down and kill it but it was a fun evening anyway with a busy bar, door prizes all to music from Ann, Graeme and Jeff: the “Edge” trio.

Improvements will be made shortly to the lower beach access road to allow general access and improve safety. Climbing the north side of the Eiger to face off with Mountain Road traffic when leaving the beach will soon be a thing of the past.
Major expenditure on a brand new mobility van is to be made shortly. Area residents with mobility problems will soon enjoy the new van for visits to hospitals in Perth, Smiths Falls or Kingston.
Our fund raising scrap metal recycling program is available. Take your scrap to 245 Mountain Road any Wednesday or Saturday between 8 and 11 a.m. Pick up is also available. Call Don at 613-273-2721.

We are pleased to be able to continue our support for the Lions Dorset Camp. A local diabetes sufferer will enjoy a week at the camp where all facilities, including dialysis, are provided.
We will be helping the North Crosby Rec: Committee again with the Canada Day celebrations at the Lions Beach. The free family fun starts early afternoon and finishes with a big fireworks display at 10 p.m. Last year 1000 people enjoyed the many activities and shows. Look for brochures at Westport stores.
Westport Lions Bingo starts Wednesday July 8th at the Westport Community Centre. Doors open at 6 and the game starts 7 p.m. It will run every Wednesday till August 26th. Not only can you enjoy Bingo but you will also help so many good causes.
