JIm has given outstanding service to Lionism for nearly 50 years. Jim has helped found several Lion’s clubs in the area, served in many executive positions and continues to tirelessly support the good work we do.
There is a lot of planning going on this month. Vision Screening, organized by Jim McGlade will take place 9.00 a.m.at St Edward’s School on Oct 8th and Rideau Vista Public School on Oct 13th and 15th. The program provides early detection of visual impairments with the result passed on to the parents if desired.
On Thanksgiving Saturday Oct 10th Lions will be at various locations around town to accept your donations in support of the White Cane Drive in support of vision care programs, Dog Guide, CNIB, vision screening, eye glasses for those in need, member expenses to attend vision related seminars and so on.
Youngsters will be glad to know that Lion Dale Lyons has begun planning the Santa Clause parade which always takes place on the fourth Saturday in November. One task is to choose the theme and various suggestions have been received already.
This summer the Rice family klndly allowed us to use their volley ball court as overflow during our championship. We are now planning to build a second court near our existing one for next years event. Work is to begin immediately.
