Westport Lions Roar By Bob Reddick August 3/17
Chris recently moved from Waterdown, ON, to Porcupine Island, Buck Lake, with his new bride, Lisa (from LA) after travelling full time for three years in their RV all over Canada and the US. His background includes policeman, air force pilot and business owner (founder of Bass Paper & Packaging Ltd.). For over sixteen years, Chris taught woodworking in Burlington, ON, in his own shop, and also had a home renovation/ contracting business. His services are now available in the Westport area. Chris has been a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years and spent two years working with the Good Shepherd Centre in Hamilton as Director of Planning & Development. When he and Lisa moved to Buck Lake he wanted to find a way to “give back” and serve in the Westport area and when he realized the wonderful community work done by the Lions and just how friendly and welcoming the local members are, he asked to join. Simply stated: “We are all so blessed and need to support and care for each other and our community. Of those who are given much, much will expected. And the most important gift we can give to our neighbors is our time”. Chris and Lisa love Westport – it’s quaint beauty and friendly folk – and are opening a B&B called Serenity House” on their island paradise. All are welcome to come see and enjoy a coffee or a glass of local wine. (613-273-7707).
